Above and Beyond Consulting has emerged from my journey in the sector of Early Childhood Education.
Hello, I’m Stella Stead. I am an advocate for early childhood. My Early Childhood journey commenced in 1997. Throughout the past 24 years I have worked in both the private sector in Long Day Care and Community based services.
Above & Beyond Consulting is about empowering educators to be the best they can be. When I meet clients, many have been in the role for many years and looking for new ideas and perspectives, whilst other clients are new to the role and are not sure the skill set required to be successful in the role. First and foremost, it is about happiness. Anything that we choose to do in life should be because we want to. Not just for the money, not for the status, but because it brings you pure joy. I always ask my clients; ”Are you happy?”.

My name is Stella Stead, and I hold a Master of Leadership and Management from Deakin University. This academic background has equipped me with a deep understanding of effective leadership principles and practices that I bring to my consulting work.

Speaker & Author
The last few years have seen me host educator evenings and in March 2020 I hosted the Childhood Education Conference with over 150 attendees from NSW and Interstate. With keynote speakers from the USA and University lecturers, the day was a huge success. The day was featured in the Illawarra Mercury and also on WIN News.
My passion and enthusiasm will engage the audience and have them leaving the session more empowered and intrinsic motivation.
I have spoken at conferences presenting topics such as Critical Reflection and team motivation. I am available for speaking events, please email me for bookings.

Long Day Care Experience
I have been a director for services, where I found my passion for leadership and empowering teams. The Community based service for which I was director was rated exceeding in all seven quality areas by ACECQA (Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority).
Training & Assessing
My journey as an assessor and trainer allowed me to disseminate my passion for Early childhood to the students studying the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. These classes taught students about the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and The Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Law. These classes provided both time for learning about theory and the skill set required to become an authentic educator.
Early Childhood consultant
This role has been an opportunity to meet and mentor early childhood practitioners. It has allowed me to teach practitioners of the importance of leadership and how to fulfil their roles in a competent manner. I have worked with Nominated Supervisors, Educational Leaders and individual teams. Many services have made contact to conduct other services after our sessions have been completed.
Workshop Facilitator
This role has allowed me to research and construct workshops for services. I have facilitated workshops on diverse topics inclusive to early childhood education. Many services have made contact for another workshop after attending.
My qualifications include:
* Master in Leadership – Deakin University
* Diploma of Social Science (Children’s Services)
* Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education)
* TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (with upgraded component)
* Accredited as a proficient teacher by NSW Education Standards- NESA
